We had planned to do the Coast to Coast walk since sitting in our living room in Nottingham. It spans 16km and starts at the Tasman sea at Onehunga finishing at the other coast line the Pacific Ocean in Auckland City centre. It climbs one volcano (mount Eden) and one hill (One Tree Hill)
We took the bus to Onehunga which took a good 45 minutes which made us slightly concerned at the distance we had to cover. We'd bought a packed lunch but sadly forgotten the map (our parents would be ashamed) so we popped into a library where a kind man helped us out!
Amy at the start in Onehunga
Feet In the sea!
My new coat!!
We followed these signs all the way, helping us with our map reading also!
Our first sheep spot halfway up one tree hill
At the summit of One Tree Hill, where we stopped for lunch
Flirting with some cows!!
The top of mount Eden. Views were spectacular from here. We could see One Tree Hill, we could see the sea where we'd started and we could see the Skytower, making Auckland look like something so futuristic.
We walked back home via the Winter garden in Auckland Domain (from yesterday). This was a hot and a cool greenhouse growing plants from
All round New Zealand. After this we headed back to get changed for our visit up the Sky Tower for a drink. Something we've really been looking forward to
The sun was just setting and the views were brilliant
We sat down during a thunder storm to enjoy some strawberry rose Prosecco. Yum! Some chinese at a very very local place and a stroll back we packed our bags to plan the next part of our adventure.
